Adélaïde Labille-Guiard was a painter in 18th century France, when women were barely recognized, and for the most part, not welcomed as such. Despite this, she ended up being amongst the first, and very FEW women to be admitted to the Royal Academy of Painting and Sculpture. David Fleming speaks with Janell Strube, author of Adelaide: Painter of the Revolution. This work of historical fiction takes place leading up to the French Revolution... though the prologue begins at the absolute HEIGHT... and in the heart... of one of the major revolts in 1793, much like an action movie drawing you right in!

On this edition of KVC-Arts Adam Rainey-Ruiz sat down with Xochitl Flores, one of the curators for the Black and Brown in the Inland Empire and Beyond exhibit. This exhibit can be seen at the Altura Credit Union Community Gallery inside the Cheech. Join us as we talk about Xochitl's history as an artist, as well as how this exhibit came to be.

"Black & Brown in the I.E. and Beyond" is at the Cheech Marin Center for Chicano Art & Culture of the Riverside Art Museum through March 15th. A few weeks ago, Adam Rainey-Ruiz spoke with Duan Kellum, one of the curators of the exhibit. Adam sits in for David Fleming once again in conversation with Xochitl Flores, another curator, about her past work, the inspiration behind Black & Brown in the IE and Beyond, and the story behind her pieces.

David Fleming speaks once again with Matt Sorum about an event coming up VERY soon honoring Paul Rodgers, from Free, Bad Company, The Firm, and Queen - after the passing of Freddie Mercury. The other honoree being Geezer Butler, bassist and lyricist for Black Sabbath! Adopt the Arts co-founder Jane Lynch will be hosting the event, with MANY musical guests from some of the biggest bands!


We'll also touch briefly on Kings of Chaos, how it came about, and the rotating cast OF the band.

This edition of KVC-Arts welcomes back Cassie MacDuff in conversation with Susan Straight about her latest novel, Sacrament. Sacrament is set during the height of Covid in 2020, and follows the lives of a small group of nurses in a makeshift RV camp close to the hospital where they work.

Once again set in and around The Inland Empire, this book will connect for many people through experiences, people, and locations to say the least. Some poignant moments without a doubt, some lighthearted moments which will bring smiles as well.

Diego Munoz interviews Victor Campos, founder and front man of the hardcore group, Barrio Slam. But we'll barely touch on the music. Victor is also the founder of Mosh For Youth, a non-profit organizing music and community events, with the purpose of providing scholarships for youths in San Bernardino, Pomona, and East LA... a few of the events coming up in the near future!
