Andrea Grant's latest book is Modern Natives: An Illustrated Collection of Reimagined Coast Salish Myths. This edition of KVC-Arts is an introduction to Andrea as author, artist, poet and more - and looking at some film work past and present.

Jonathan Karrant with The Joe Alterman Trio is an absolutely FANTASTIC release. On this edition of KVC-Arts, David Fleming speaks with Jonathan about the album, and we'll get a touch of the music as well. Blending jazz standards with tunes from jazz greats - which may or may not be a so called "standard." Tunes which you may associate with Nancy Wilson, Les McCann, Wes Montgomery... even Jerry Lewis! Mix these in with a couple pop megahits with a WONDERFUL jazz treatment (Your Song, Everybody's Talking, Don't Let Me be Lonely Tonight), and you have "Jonathan Karrant with The Joe Alterman Trio Live in Concert." This - and a sneak peak at his NEXT release, due out in September.

Jonathan Karrant joins David Fleming to spotlight his latest release, "Jonathan Karrant With The Joe Alterman Trio: LIVE IN CONCERT. Two tunes from "On and On" made it to this concert and it's really nice to see (and hear) the evolution OF these tunes. The others are tunes which are attention getters, just scanning the back of the disc. Some you may only know of as instrumentals... and Jonathan delivers FUN, fun takes! The first broadcast of this show happened to fall on Mother's Day, and we just HAPPEN to begin the program he released FOR Mother's Day!

Chris Thayer speaks with David Fleming about several albums with a fair amount of crossover in style, feel and execution. All WELL worth getting - and highly advisable! There's a much more focused look (and listen) on the most recent. One Foot In the Grave, a 2026 release, kicks off hard and heavy with Dynamite. Other tracks you may recognize if you've been going to Chris Thayer and the TCB shows for any amount of time, as a few come from the past, but are given SUCH a wonderful treatment, and ALL worth a LOUD listen!

This edition of KVC-Arts is STEEPED in guitar. David Fleming speaks with Peter Curtis about the 2026 RCC Guitar Festival and Competition, which kicks off Friday April 3rd with a concert by The LA Guitar Quartet. Saturday the 4th from 9 to 5-ish pm, there will be guitarists playing in a variety of genres competing for scholarships, as well as master classes and concerts by jazz guitarist Larry Koonse, and classical guitarist and composer Benjamin Verdery - the latter of which will perform on his own, and then will be joined by Peter and the RCC Guitar Ensemble to play a piece Verdery wrote for the ensemble and the 2026 festival.
