KVCR's Teen Weeks of Film is an eventwhere local high school students developed and produced a short film documentary centered on topics most important to them as a way to spread awareness.

Meet The Filmmakers
Adrian Duran-Ramirez is from Upland, California, and has spent the past two years enrolled in the UCollege dual enrollment program at Upland High School. During his freshman year, he was recognized as Star Student of the Year and earned additional accolades for being the most curious, inspirational, and aspiring student. Adrian aspires to become a writer, director/producer, and cinematographer. He is also passionate about themed entertainment and is considering pursuing that path as well. Regardless of where his future leads, he is determined to approach it with a smile.
Evvet Jresat is an 11th grader at Summit High School and is set to be a four-year member of the TV Production Program. Throughout her high school journey, she has earned numerous accolades in film festivals, CTE work, and various volunteer opportunities. Her achievements include being named Student of the Month, a finalist and winner at the FUSD Film Festival, earning a TV-Kids Mentor certification, Junior Honor Attendant, and academic gold medalist. She has also qualified for SkillsUSA State, completed over 300 hours of CTE work, received Honorable Mention at the Young Artist Gallery, and earned a Certificate of Work Ethic Comprehension. Additionally, she participated in KVCR Teen Week’s Program and earned a Certificate of Language Reclassification. Evvet plans to graduate high school with both a diploma and an associate's degree and intends to apply to universities to pursue a career in film.
Hang Lyu is a 10th-grade student at Middle College High School, enrolled in a dual enrollment program that requires a careful balance between extracurricular activities and academics. Despite the challenges, Hang has achieved many accomplishments, including performing as a violist in the San Bernardino County Orchestra, the SB District Orchestra, and her high school orchestra. She is also actively involved on campus, serving as president of the journalism club and participating as a member of ASB. In her free time, Hang enjoys watching movies and playing video games.
Joshleen Rizo, 16, is a sophomore at Chaffey High School and has been fortunate to be involved in a variety of activities. One of her proudest achievements is founding Los Tigres de Chaffey, the first-ever Mariachi group at her school. In addition to her work with Mariachi, Joshleen participates in Orchestra, Varsity Golf, Varsity Water Polo, Varsity Swim, and the Gateways program. She is also an active member of the California Scholarship Federation and serves as Treasurer for both the National Honor Society and MEChA. Looking to the future, Joshleen plans to attend college, with aspirations of becoming either a criminal defense lawyer or a forensic psychologist.
Lidia Liberato is a sophomore at Chaffey High School. Some of her accomplishments during high school include being elected vice president of the Associated Student Body (ASB) in her freshman year and serving as social media co-chair for ASB in her junior year. Looking ahead, she aims to learn more about the film industry.
Maylin Cortes is a junior at Middle College High School and is also in her third year at San Bernardino Valley College, where she is completing a dual enrollment program. Upon graduation, Maylin will earn both her high school diploma and an Associate of Arts (AA) degree in Liberal Arts: Humanities and Fine Arts. She is an active leader, serving as president of the National Honor Society and the Student Leadership Advisory Council (SLAC). Maylin has received numerous accolades, including awards for achieving the highest GPA, recognition from the Superintendent of Schools, and commendations from the San Bernardino Police Department. Looking ahead, Maylin aspires to pursue a career in psychology and become an ABA (Applied Behavior Analysis) therapist.
Micah McKinney is an 11th-grade student at Middle College High School, who has already accumulated over 200 hours of community service while maintaining top student status across multiple courses. As an incoming junior, Micah has earned awards in Anatomy and Physiology Honors, Precalculus Honors, English Honors, AVID, and Adobe Prep. Additionally, Micah has achieved certification in Adobe Photoshop, standing out as one of the few students to earn this distinction. Micah aspires to become a marine biologist, specializing in research on cnidarians, with a focus on disease mitigation and nematocyst cells.
Nikolas Miramontes is a recent graduate of Chaffey High School, where he made significant contributions to his school community. He served as the chief photo editor for both the yearbook and newspaper programs, captained the varsity cross country and track & field teams, and worked as a fly rail operator in the technical theater for productions by the Chaffey Theatre Company. Nikolas's passion for storytelling through photo and video has driven his success and impact, and he plans to continue pursuing this passion on a larger scale. He is grateful to everyone who supported him throughout his journey, especially his Uncle Billy, who recognized his potential many years ago.
Paula Enriquez is a junior at Summit High School and an upcoming four-year member of Skyhawk Productions. She has achieved significant recognition in her field, including being a regional and state finalist in SkillsUSA, as well as a finalist in four categories at the Fontana Unified Film Festival, where she won two of those categories. Paula is also a mentor at Almond Elementary and was featured in the Riverside International Film Festival. In addition to these accomplishments, she received the Rookie of the Year award and the Charlie Hustle award from Skyhawk Productions. Paula aspires to continue her cinematic journey in college, where she plans to major in film and pursue a career as a director or producer.
Selene Butalid is a sophomore at Summit High School, soon to be a junior, with plans to be a four-year member of her school's production class, SkyHawk Productions. She has earned recognition as a finalist in the FUSD Film Festival and SkillsUSA, and is an active member of the California Scholarship Federation (CSF), among other achievements. Beyond her passion for film, Selene is also dedicated to dance. She served as secretary of her school's Hip-Hop Club for the 2022-2024 school years and is now president for the 2024-2026 term. Selene aspires to graduate and pursue a career in the film industry, working to turn her passion into a reality.
