A drone boat rescued two Army aviators who were aboard the Apache attack helicopter when it went down near the Strait of Hormuz.

The exchange of strikes comes as the Trump administration ramps up pressure on Iran to make a deal to end the conflict.

The U.S. military announced strikes against Iranian positions just hours after President Trump says more countries should normalize ties with Israel in any Iran deal, tempering expectations of peace.

President Trump said Iran's latest response to a U.S. proposal was "unacceptable" and didn't address the country's nuclear program.

U.S. forces fired on two Iranian oil tankers after exchanging fire with Iranian forces in the Strait of Hormuz. And the United Arab Emirates reported another Iranian missile and drone attack.

"Our hope and expectation is for an agreement sooner rather than later," Pakistani Foreign Ministry spokesperson Tahir Andrabi told NPR.

President Trump says that he is pausing the U.S. effort to guide stranded vessels out of the Strait of Hormuz to finalize an Iran deal, but that the American forces' blockade of the Iranian ports would remain in place.
