The very last pay phone, on display in a museum. A friend with a terminal disease inviting you over for one last round of cocktails. A village sinking underwater. You hear all of these stories on the latest album from The New Pornographers, and all of them — even the album title, The Former Site Of — nod to the idea that nothing lasts forever.

Coming up, Carl Newman and Kathryn Calder talk about the thread of impermanence running through the new album and how their process has changed over the years. You'll also hear them perform songs from The Former Site Of in front of a live audience.
