KVCR hosts First-Ever “Operation Gobble.”
KVCR Public Media in partnership with San Bernardino Community College District hosted its inaugural “Operation Gobble” on Saturday, November 18, 2023 from 10:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. at the KVCR station. Five hundred local families were selected to receive a Thanksgiving meal bag during “Operation Gobble”. Sponsors included the San Bernardino Community College District, Community Action Partnership of San Bernardino County (CAP), Inland Empire Health Plan (IEHP), PENSKE and Five Heights Realty.
Five hundred families from our local schools, community colleges, faith-based and community organizations, foster youth, veterans and seniors were pre-selected to receive a meal bag which contained a turkey, ham or chicken and the fixings for a delicious Thanksgiving dinner. CAP also provided 300 food boxes for the event.
Over sixty-six individuals, including the city of Ontario’s Colony High School baseball team, members representing the United Food and Commercial Workers (UFCW) Local 1428 as well as KVCR staff, volunteered their time and energy to successfully implement “Operation Gobble.”
KVCR Executive Director, Connie Leyva said, “KVCR’s first-ever “Operation Gobble” was a huge success. We look forward to hosting more events that engage the community so they understand that our doors are open to serve. Some of our local families need a helping hand, especially during the holiday season, and we want them to know that we are here for them. Happy Thanksgiving!” For more information, please visit www.kvcrnews.org/operation-gobble.
