KVCR connects with local kids. KVCR’s Midday News radio staff presented to 4th graders at Palm Avenue Elementary School’s Career Day in San Bernardino. Students learned what it's like to be a radio producer and work in public radio and television. In addition, KVCR and the Valley College Institute of Media Arts program hosted students from Moreno Valley’s Sunnymead Middle School for an in-station tour as part of their Advancement Via Individual Determination Program (AVID).

KVCR Radio highlights the EDCT and its partnership with the CDCR (California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation). The San Bernardino Parole Complex is providing a room onsite for EDCT staff to provide services to the parolee population for transitional employment into the Cal Trans Program. The onsite office gives formerly incarcerated men a better chance at success. EDCT staff member Eddie Rubio spoke with KVCR Radio just one day after the new office opened downtown

KVCR Radio sponsors VIBE Festival of Wellness at the University of Redlands. Members of the KVCR Radio staff were on site with a booth promoting all things KVCR during the Festival 5K and Family Fun Run event. Participants immerse themselves fully in a customizable day of health and wellness while enjoying the very best the Inland Empire region has to offer in food, art, and music.

KVCR Radio sponsors the launch of San Bernardino International Airport’s passenger service over the station’s airwaves and social channels. Supporting the launch event Ready to Takeoff - Airline Launch Concert, KVCR Radio provided messaging leading up to the event, as well as highlighted the commercial passenger service which began on August 4th.
KVCR conducts blood drive with LifeStream at Subaru of Riverside. Members of the KVCR Radio staff were live on site at Subaru of Riverside to encourage the community to come out on August 12th and give blood. The collective effort raised 24 pints for our community.
California Public Radio Day live remote in Riverside and San Bernardino. On August 25th, KVCR, along with the day sponsor Inland Empire Health Plan, joined public radio stations across the state celebrating and raising donations for public radio.

The California Arts Council, A State Agency, awards KVCR a $19,000 Impact Project Grant.
As part of the program to advance culture, creativity, and the arts in San Bernardino and Riverside counties, KVCR will produce season two of the Television show, Expressions of Art - Multicultural. On June 17th and 18th, KVCR shot episode one of the program at The Cheech Center for Chicano Art. Examples of future episodes to be filmed include Julie Loffer, a Native American Artist; Robert and Frances Fullerton Museum of Art at Cal State San Bernardino; and the Temecula Art Gallery

San Bernardino County Workforce Development Department contracts KVCR for video production.
The team will develop a series of influential short-form public service announcement videos that highlight positive stories and experiences of working in the logistics sector. The target audience for each video would be recent high school graduates and young adults looking for a rewarding career. KVCR will delivery six videos by end of June with another six to follow thereafter.
FNX TV continues its collaboration with 91.9 KVCR FM to cover another community outing.
This time the two SBCCD entities partnered on a segment covering the grand opening of the Santos Manuel Student Union at Cal State San Bernardino. This converted radio piece is an example of multi-use media, which is part of a training that is being offered to tribal radio stations across the nation in an effort to include their short form radio stories in the FNX daily broadcast. KVCR Radio at the University of Redlands David Fleming of KVCR Radio visited the University of Redlands to facilitate a discussion for Literary Criticism & Theory. The special guest speaker was Abdur-Rahman Muhammad, an independent scholar based in Washington, DC. A historian, journalist, writer, and activist, widely regarded as one of the most respected authorities on the life and legacy of the civil rights-era black leader Malcolm X (El Hajj Malik El Shabazz), Mr. Muhammed will be the guest on an upcoming segment of KVC-Arts.
KVCR digital launches Community Calendar.
This community benefit allows kvcrnews.org, fnx.org or kvcr.org website visitors to search and learn more information about a wide range of local and regional events. KVCR digital is increasing its website engagement, traffic and provides the station passive revenue streams for underwriting with the addition of this new feature.
FNX partners with Hoopa Tribe, Ethnic Media Services, and the California Department of Aging.
Premiering February 25, A Shadow Pandemic of Loneliness. This 30-minute documentary, which was shot on location at the Hoopa Reservation in Northern California, is both a radio program to the KIDE Tribal Station, as well as a TV Program on FNX. The program features conversations with the Hoopa Tribal Community about the effects that loneliness has had on elders during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Soar with KVCR Palm Springs Air Museum Members joined KVCR’s Rick Dulock and Lillian Vasquez at the Palm Springs Air Museum on Monday morning January 24 for a tour and lunch. This special event was conceived to broaden KVCRs’ outreach, raise donations and build awareness for both organizations. Learn more.

The special highlighted past veterans, current military personnel and introduce us to aviation legends. 09/13 SBCUSD WORC Program in KVCR: The Working On Real Careers ("WORC") students of the San Bernardino County Unified School District have worked with KVCR for ten years. The purpose of the WORC Program is to help students with moderate to severe disabilities develop valuable work and community skills that will aid in their adult independence once they leave school district services. Observing and working alongside the KVCR staff has shown our students the importance of professionalism, organization, and teamwork.

KVCR provides streaming services during the Lois Carson Building Dedication event at Valley College. Using new mobile and streaming technology purchased during the 2020 station modernization, KVCR production staff livestreamed the speeches and signage reveal for those who couldn't attend this monumental event in person.
Crafton Hills College Center for Digital Media students work on class projects for KVCR. As part of KVCRs' ongoing partnership with the CHC Center for Digital Media, students are given directions and goals from KVCR staff on how finished graphic assets are used in advertising campaigns. KVCR team members provide professional feedback, vote on top selections, and implement final choices in the form of email campaigns and digital banner advertisements.

Valley College Journalism students visit with KVCR News staff and tour facilities. Professor Ed Shea brought the inaugural class of English 122 Intro to Journalism to KVCR to discuss Public Media and Local News coverage. The students had an opportunity to meet and speak with Rick Dulock of KVCR Radio while touring the station facilities. During the upcoming semester, the students will work with the KVCR team on News stories, reflecting on the surrounding SBVC community

KVCR Fall Interns, Work Study Students and KVCR Staff participated in the re-enactment of Lopez v. Seccombe, a civic engagement event held at the famous Mitla Café.
The San Bernardino Superior Court and San Bernardino / Riverside American Board of Trial Advocates presented a free program for students, teachers and educators as part of the James Otis Lecture series. Decided in 1944 in the City of San Bernardino, the case desegregated city parks and recreational facilities, specifically the Perris Hill “plunge” or pool, setting precedent and influencing the landmark Supreme Court decision of Brown v. Board of Education in 1954. KVCR filmed the event and will distribute on Broadcast TV, Mobile App and Website.

KVCR receives historic funding in the 2022-23 state budget. On August 12th, KVCR and SBCCD leadership welcomed Assembly Majority Leader Eloise Gómez Reyes and community partners to the KVCR studio to celebrate an historic check presentation of $15 million in funding from the state for KVCR.
Fall interns and work study students at KVCR. The KVCR staff conducted interviews and reviewed submittals in the month of August to bring on board two new interns through FTVM / Institute of Media Arts, and two federal work study students. For this Fall semester, KVCR will have a total of six students working alongside the professional staff, supporting the station in the areas of TV and Radio production as well as graphic arts.

KVCR hosts national and state leaders in the station, including Congressman Pete Aquilar on May 27th, California Attorney General Rob Bonta on May 31st, and Lieutenant Governor Eleni Kounalakis.on June 17th.
KVCR Internships for Fall 2022 have begun.
The job has been posted on the SBVC Institute of Media Arts resume portal, Jobspeaker, and announced in Film Television & Media classes. Students are encouraged to apply also by sending their resumes directly to KVCR staff. Other sources of student workers will come from the Federal Work Study program and volunteers.

KVCR to support Crafton Hills College commencement with production services and distribution of livestream
The KVCR production services team will be on site May 25th with four cameras to broadcast to the big screens, as well as distribute the signal to the Crafton Hills College website. Assisting in this production will be the KVCR interns from

Rotating on KVCR TV in the month of May is a segment about the history of Cinco de Mayo made by area high school students under FTVM / IMA instructor Donna Trewella’s supervision.

KVCR Studio and the SBVC Foundation
The SBVC Foundation Board held its annual scholarship ceremony virtually on May 4th. Foundation President Dr. Dennis Byas, SBVC President Dr. Scott Thayer, and SBVC Executive Director, Development and Community Relations Mike Layne visited KVCR studios and prerecorded videos for the virtual scholarship ceremony.
KVCR supports SBCCD with public service announcements for Measure CC on TV, Radio and Social Media.
As a public service, SBCCD wants you to know that local, minority, women and veteran owned businesses are encouraged to participate in the contractor bidding process for repairs, upgrades and new facilities under Measure CC. SBCCD & KVCR TV sign a multi-year production agreement with the San Bernardino County Superintendent of Schools for Learn with Me.
A bilingual half-hour children's educational program, Learn with Me, is geared towards Pre-K to 3rd graders. Audiences follow along as “Impact Eddie” introduces us to a group of dynamic teachers in exciting environments, sharing impactful educational content on various topics, including science, literacy, and computers, to name a few. This educational program will be a multi-year production consisting of 36 half-hour episodes.
03/01/2022 Student videos air between regular PBS primetime programming on KVCR-TV
Students from the Valley College FTVM 131 Cinematography class produced and submitted two videos under three minutes for broadcast. One of the videos was an instructional video for kids on how to make paper snowflakes which aired over the holidays. The other is a humorous short film based on the film industry which will air the remainder of the academic year.
01/15/2022 KVCR promotes construction training for students on behalf of EDCT As a public service, KVCR is currently developing and supporting the marketing efforts of the third cohort of the SB-1 Pre-Apprenticeship program. This eight-week, the part-time virtual training program includes basic math for construction, blueprint reading, CPR, and more. Open to women, minorities, youth, and the formerly incarcerated, this NO FEE construction career training program runs from February 2 through March 25, 2022. Student Internship Opportunities with KVCR Production Partner Uncovered in the Archives
Multiple internship opportunities are available for students; on the IMA Career Board, to participate in the filming of Season Two of the award-winning historically-driven television series. Host Brad Pomerance travels throughout the Greater Inland Empire to unravel some of the region’s most extraordinary historical events – known and unknown, remembered and forgotten – all told through the hidden treasures that we Uncovered in the Archives.
KVCR Internship start date for Spring 2022 will be after February 25, in alignment with current remote learning procedures in place for SBCCD. KVCR will have four paid and two for-credit/non-paid interns from Valley College. Interns for the Fall semester will be recruited beginning in March of 2022.
KVCR TV Fundraising between November 24 and January 2 raised total donations eclipsing the team’s goal of $110,000. The next television pledge drive will be in March 2022.
KVCR FM Pledge Between (September 27th –and October 20th, 2021) KVCR FM received over 650 pledges from the radio community. Total donations eclipsed the team’s goal of one hundred thousand dollars $100,000. The next pledge drive will be Spring 2022.
2021 Crafton Hills College Virtual Respiratory Graduation Production
KVCR classified staff worked with the leadership of the Respiratory Care Program at Crafton Hills College on the production and final video delivery of their graduation ceremonies held on December 16th.

FTVM / Institute of Media Arts Advisory Board Meeting: KVCR management and classified staff participated in the Bi-Annual Advisory meeting moderated by faculty Co-Chair Lucas Cluny. Topics discussed were new courses coming Fall 2022, large-scale productions, and creating a bridge with our university / high school partners. Also, the Internship Program at Valley with the IMA and KVCR. Participants from the Inland Empire Film Permit Office, University of Riverside, San Bernardino Unified School District, Desert Sands Unified, California Baptist, California State University San Bernardino, Fontana Unified School District, and the University of La Verne.
11/16 Student and District activities showcased in KVCR social media: Some of the Initiatives supported with social postings were Books+, Crafton Hills College English as a Second Language Non-Credit Program, Hispanic Heritage Month, Native American Month, and Newly-appointed Trustee announcements.
11/4 Back on Broadway SBVC Theatre Students perform for KVCR Members: Theatre students will perform a song from their upcoming show of Willy Wonka during KVCR Presents a night of old Broadway music on Thursday, November 4, in the auditorium on the campus of San Bernardino Valley College. KVCR radio will interview SBVC professor Melinda Fogle to promote the student’s Willy Wonka performances in conjunction with this event.
10/26 College Professor to Shine a Light on Student Loans. Anthony Castro, Associate Professor of Mathematics, Business & Computer Technology at San Bernardino Valley College, will give a zoom talk designed to help students understand the mathematics of student loans so they might avoid putting themselves in a devastating position. 10/15 KVCR promotes Books+ Under the guidance of the Office of the Chancellor, KVCR created scripts and voice-over messaging to develop and air local public service announcements on both Radio and Television to begin in the month of October running through the end of the year. 09/14 Students involved with KVCR Radio in the production of Musically Speaking: Hosted by faculty member Margaret Worsley, this new one-hour radio program was created in cooperation with the SBVC Institute of Media Arts (IMA). Students from FTVM 213 | Audio Studio Production worked with KVCR Radio Program Manager Rick Dulock on production and recorded interviews. The first show aired on September 25th. Future shows of Musically Speaking are set to air every fourth Saturday of the month from 7-8 p.m., and re-air every fourth Monday from 3-4 p.m. in the radio programming block called Education Insight.
09/02 KVCR-TV will air student-produced videos promoting the SBVC Poetry Workshop and Poetry Reading Project. The IMA students produced three videos about recovery and encouraged the public to attend the September 30th event. On September 2nd KVCR-Radio interviewed Donald Harris with the San Bernardino Department of Behavioral Health involved with the project. Donald provided information about the upcoming Healing, Prevention, and Poetry project throughout September, National Recovery Month. This collaboration with SBVC aims to bring awareness about issues surrounding drugs and alcohol in the community. The interview and promotion aired on the radio program Lifestyles on September 9th at 2 pm and 6:30 pm, repeat airing on September 11th at 4 pm.
KVCR & IMA Monthly Meeting: KVCR Management & Leadership establish a monthly standing meeting with SBVC - Institute of Media Arts (IMA) Faculty Chair and Arts and Humanities Dean to collaborate on the needs and objectives of both organizations. In Progress: establishing Internship pipeline by establishing Job descriptions for departments in KVCR and allowing students to apply, interview and train. Launch date January 2022.
Fall 2021 Students: in the KVCR TV studio twice a week (Wed & Thurs). Radio operations once week (Thurs) Classes in KVCR: FTVM 130 (Survey of Studio and Film Production), 131 (Cinematography), 110 (Audio Performance), 122 (Acting and Directing), 213 (Audio Studio Production), and 233 (TV Studio Production). Roughly, 50-75 students a week rotating through Station. Working on: Multi-Camera Studio Hour Drama, Music Video, Radio Show, and Various Class exercises where the teachers and students utilize the technology and space.

In partnership with SBCCD leadership, the SBVC Institute for Media Arts, and the CHC Center for Digital Media, KVCR hosts members of Inland Action.
KVCR was honored to showcase the Postproduction/Student Lab Area, Radio Studio, and TV Studio during the recent meeting of these local area influencers. Guests enjoyed a networking breakfast in the KVCR lobby, received a short presentation, including studentcreated content, and went on a tour of the studios.

FNX goes LIVE on November 8, Election Night, across the nation. Since 2018 ICT (Indian Country Today) and FNX have teamed up to bring local and national issues at stake on election night. FNX and ICT went live for three hours from the KVCR studios, focusing on indigenous voters and bi-partisan candidates. KVCR & FNX staff, Student Interns, and consultants all support this important national event.

KVCR FM brings on The Moth – a new radio program – to its weekly line-up. This popular show, where ordinary people tell their extraordinary stories, was inserted into the coveted 4 p.m. afternoon slot on Sundays starting in September, and will air just before the weekend edition of All Things Considered.

KVCR is awarded $400,102 dollars from the FCC Reimbursement Fund.
For stations building a new broadcast television tower as part of the FCC Reverse Incentive Auction, the FCC proposed to reimburse tower construction expenses related to FM stations displaced during the construction process. Starting in late 2019, the KVCR Director, along with SBCCD Facilities and Fiscal Services team members, worked to file forms certifying that KVCR met the requisite eligibility criteria and provided documentation and other evidence to support the certification process.

San Bernardino Community College District and KVCR welcome Pete Aguilar, Representative of the 31st Congressional District of California
On Friday May 27th Representative Aguilar, SBCCD Trustees, the Chancellor, KVCR staff, and interns were on site to participate in a check presentation and discuss how the region will benefit from Representative Aguilar’s leadership in securing $1 million in federal funds for KVCR. During the Congressman’s visit, KVCR conducted a radio interview for Inland Edition as well as a short segment for television to be aired in June

KVCR-TV signs agreement with DIRECTV Stream
A dedicated live channel for KVCR-DT is available to all local DIRECTV Stream customers. The new agreement continues KVCR digital expansion by offering viewers an additional way to stream our content. DIRECTV Stream is the first Virtual Multichannel Video Programming Distributor (vMVPD), or streaming TV service, for KVCR. Currently, you can stream KVCR-TV on kvcr.org, mobile devices through the KVCR App and on the PBS App.
KVCR welcomes six Interns from Valley College
Starting with the March return to campus, interns will assist in production, post production and digital content creation.
01/15/2022 Twenty-five-thousand-dollar grant awarded to KVCR for Improving COVID-19 Responses Through Journalism from The California Endowment. Funding will support a locally-led radio and journalism program to increase awareness of health and racial disparities in communities coping with the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic in the Inland Empire.
KVCR Interim Director of Broadcast Media Systems Anthony A. Papa graduates from the Public Media Diversity Leaders Initiative, a program of the Riley Institute at Furman University. Over the course of four months, participants took part in a highly interactive curriculum comprising scenario analyses and other experiential learning tools that support public media leaders in their efforts to apply diversity, equity, and inclusion principles to behaviors, systems, and cultures within their organizations. 09/07 - 91.9 KVCR: is collaborating with Growing Inland Achievement for a monthly, one-hour monthly radio program focused on innovation in education. Education Insight airs on the first Saturday evening of each month at 7:00 pm and repeats the following Monday afternoon at 3:00 pm. Crafton Hills College student retention efforts were noted in the premiere of the show on May 1st. On August 7th, in episode four of the series, incoming SBCCD Chancellor Diana Rodriguez was a featured guest. KVCR's Rick Dulock worked with GIA's Jacob Poore and program host/producer, Lacey Kendall to organize the creation of the new local program.
09/07- Programming FNX: New Content for September - HOOPA VALLEY: ONE TRIBE'S BATTLE AGAINST COVID19: Hoopa Valley tribal community members, including a First Responder, a Doctor, and Radio Personalities, discuss the tribe’s battle against the Covid19 Pandemic. Premieres on September 27th. The program was produced by FNX in partnership with Ethnic Media Service with the help of Sierra Health Foundation, the California Department of Aging, and the Blue Shield of California Foundation.
