The city of San Bernardino has faced many challenges lately: Financial struggles, dysfunction at City Hall, and so on. But there is good news for the people of San Bernardino who may want to connect with law enforcement and become part of the solution.

The San Bernardino Police Department’s District Commanders are sitting down with local citizens over a cup of coffee to discuss and resolve neighborhood problems. Sergeant David Green explained the Coffee-with-a-Cop program and its intent.

Well, the concept of the Coffee-with-a-Cop program is that through its informality the public will be made at ease, and uh, it’ll create a feeling of comfort in which they can sit down and talk to officersand get to know them on a more personal level, unlike a formal town hall meeting where they may be uncomfortable bringing up issues.

Local resident Skip Forester added, “You can hear first hand what actions the police are going to take, so it gives you that direct feeling that you can really accomplish something.”
Residents can then come back to the following meeting and express thoughts about how the issues were handles or resolved.

These meetings are held at four different locations throughout the city on Wednesdays at 9:00 AM. For the NE district they meet at Denny’s; The NW location is Farmer Boys; The SE is at iHOP and the SW meets at Michaels.
