California’s long-term plan to manage the Sacramento-San Joaquin Delta has a tough fight ahead of it. As Amy Quinton reports from Sacramento, the Delta Plan is now facing four lawsuits.

The plan approved last month by the Delta Stewardship Council is designed to restore the Delta ecology and provide reliable water supplies to Californians. Environmentalists have sued because they say the plan would have devastating impacts on fishing, farming and endangered species.

State water contractors have sued because they say it would decrease water deliveries. Greg Weber is with the McGeorge School of Law.

?The Delta Plan right now is like holding a wedding without the bride.?

The bride is the Bay Delta Conservation Plan, or BDCP, which includes the twin tunnel project to carry water south from the Delta.

?What people are complaining about is that the Delta Plan does not have the level of detail in it that probably will only be possible once the BDCP component is put in.?

The Delta Stewardship Council says its plan walks the very careful line specified by state law.
