Yesterday more than 15 city workers were arrested in San Francisco during protests over wage cuts and increased health care premiums in labor contracts. The workers were arrested for blocking traffic.

According to KTVU-TV, about 1,000 SEIU Local 1021 members demonstrated during rush hour at a busy downtown intersection. The Service Employees International Union represents health workers, public service workers, and is the largest property services union in the country.

The demonstrators claim that cuts to city worker contracts are unfair when the city continues to give payroll tax breaks to big businesses like Bank of America.
