The committee of San Bernardino residents appointed to review the convoluted City Charter held its first meeting last week. KVCR's Matt Guilhem was there, and reports the that committee has a tight timeline to come up with recommendations to make city government run better, and then to get something on the fall ballot for residents' to vote on.

Well before her National Book Award-nominated first novel was published, Inland Empire author Susan Straight renamed her hometown of Riverside "Rio Seco," and used the fictional town as the primary location for many of her stories.
